Published by at 3:01 am under 1. Verbs 2 (WJEC T3),d. Exercises,e. WJEC Topic 3

Please tell me what you did last weekend or your last holiday. For example,

-What time you got up
-What you ate
-Where you went, by what means of transport and with whom
-What you did
-What time you returned home and how
-What time you went to bed

Please be careful all sentences should be in past tenses!

Here is my example.

This is my “Last weekend” speaking practice. (I know むかえに came out sounding like むかえね, but I had already tried this about 4 times, and kept forgetting what I was going to say or not using the grammatical constructions that I had planned to use, so I didn’t want to have to record it yet again. I didn’t want to read out a pre-prepared text because we can’t do that in the exam, so I thought about it in advance, but then just noted down a few keywords.)

This is wonderful. If you can speak like this, it will be full mark. You added more complicated expressions than you were asked, which is fantastic! Fluent and good pronunciation overall. Try to pay attention of intonation and pitch. Remember that pitch (high or low ) is important in Japanese rather than stress (strong/weak). I will leave comment as voice message for examples.

These are only few minor suggestions to improve it even better!

★せんしゅうの土曜日に→ せんしゅうの土曜日は (how about making Saturday as topic of the speech with “は” rather than “on Saturday”)

★うちにはいって (entered house) → うちにかえって (returned home)

    ★おっとがおきたとき→ おっとがおきてから
    Nは、V1てからV2します。
    eg. わたしは、シャワーをあびてから、学校にいきます。
This is similar to the sentence pattern of NはV1て、V2て、V3ます。 While NはV1て、V2て、V3ます can express several actions occurring one after another, this variation notes specifically that one action occurs after another. This is accomplished by the used of てform followed by the particle から(after).

★Please think the reason why I change “は” to “が”.

    ★いっしょにまちかいものにいきました。→ に

    ★わたしなら、カフェネロにいって→ わたしは、カフェネロにいって、
    (なら=if)
    N1は/が Adj1/N1なら、Adj2です。
    あなたが、しあわせなら、うれしいです。
(If you are happy, I am happy.)
    そのニュースが、ほんとうなら、かなしいです。
(If this news is true, I am sad.)
★ばんに →ゆうがた(evening) sounds more natural than ばんに.

    ★とてもたのしいでした。→ とてもたのしかったです。
    (Please revise i-adjective past tense.)

If you do no understand my comment, please let me know.
